Kathy McIntosh believes in the power of words and that each of us has the right to be heard. As a freelance editor and speaker, Kathy helps people make their words work for them.
Kathy has been the owner of A Well-Placed Word since 2003. She was a co-founder of Healthwise, Inc., an innovator in consumer wellness and health information, and went on to spend more nearly three decades working in public relations and marketing. She earned her MBA in Marketing and Organizational Development from the Anderson School at UCLA. She was employed in marketing by Xerox, Hewlett-Packard and Cougar Mountain Software.
Kathy writes a regular column on words and business writing, “Words at Work,” for the Idaho Statesman’s Business Insider. A collection of those articles, Wordworking: Get Your Words to Work for You will be published in April 2014.
A long-time member of Toastmasters, Inc., Kathy is a popular, entertaining and educational speaker. Kathy’s novel Mustard’s Last Stand was published in 2012. Two articles on writing were included in An Eclectic Collage: Creative Works by the Women of the Pixie Chicks Writers’ Group and a short story was included in Hauntings from the Snake River Plain.
